A film brings itself into being, drawing in the people it truly needs. It is like a woman trying on dresses before going out. No one ever knows what form it will take at its premiere. The director can only guess.

Vasilii Builov is a composer, filmmaker and writer from Eastern Siberia. His work moves between music, cinema and prose, with each discipline shaping the others.
Raised in Divnogorsk, he studied piano and choral conducting before entering the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow, where he studied prose, and later VGIK, where he trained in fiction film directing. From the age of fifteen, he also worked as a piano tuner, eventually tuning more than four thousand instruments.
His musical language was shaped by Siberian folk traditions and a long-standing interest in ethnography. The region brought together people from Belarus, Arkhangelsk, the Kuban, Ukraine and many other places, allowing their songs and musical traditions to intermingle. This mixture remains present in his melodic writing and in his attention to place.
Founder of Sayanfilm Studio and the Krasnoyarsk Film School.
